    The regular ”looking down the barrle boresighting” is usually good enough for me, but with the MDT oryx chassi its a bit hard to do because of how the stock gets in the way, so I guess this product would be one solution to that problem. Greatings from 🇸🇪

    I love my XTR Pro and I feel the same way as You about the Black and White turrets lol but I have one more issue with it the elevation turret should have the same audible, clicks as the windage or at least the same going up as going down I actually called Burris just to hear from them directly that my scope wasn’t a defective one I Have an Arken EP-5 that has better turrets ….. but I still love the Glass and wouldn’t change it

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 3 дня назад

      Hi Dirtatv! I agree that the glass is very good, and overall I like the scope a lot. I just wish they had added a "regular" windage turret and kept the elevation turret simpler, I never know whether I'm really adjusting for zero or not with that elevation turret and it's confusing to me. I think they just wanted to be different for no real reason. Anyway, thanks for watching my friend!

      Hi Dustin! Totally agree and as I say in the video, it doesn't really matter to me. BUT, if you're gonna cap the turret, then make it larger so I don't have to hunt for the tiny numbers, which is why I beat them up a little over their "this is a PRS scope" print in their description. thanks for the review of this scope. I ordered one to try and add to my shooting gear. I think its darn hard to justify high end scope prices depending on what you're doing nowadays when you have such good budget options. certainly I would love to have a higher tier or top tier scope but for what I do, makes no sense to have a 3 or 4k scope. for shooting steel?..lol or hunting, the deer or elk don't care if you're shooting them with a high end scope. I understand you get what you pay for mantra, but I can get by and plenty more with an arken, discovery, or low end vortex.

      Hi Synapses! Totally agree with you here. And I'm really impressed with the thought that was put into this scope. You saw my review of the Burris, good scope, but they left out some very basic PRS functionality. This Discovery seems well built, and for an entry level scope, I think it's a good deal. Hi RT2Do! Thanks for the kind words, and I agree that if you're just plinking, or hunting from say a blind, this scope makes perfect sense. I think you are right in saying it should be a few hundred bucks cheaper than it is. It’s a good scope to be sure but not up there with the high end scopes. $2000 US is a lot of money for that Burris.

      @The4GunGuy 4 дня назад

      Hi CSH! Yeah, I think if they had stuck with a "normal" elevation turret instead of trying to get so fancy with it, and then added a large, uncapped, windage turret, I would have been happier with the scope. Hi Synapses! No, I don't regret it for my 22LR, but I might if I had made this change on one of my centerfire rifles for competition, since that's what I'm really focusing on this year. I "like" the Burris, the glass is very clear and the reticle is very nice. I just wish these companies would actually consult with a PRS shooter and not leave out the little things, like that capped windage turret. I do think there are other options out there in the Vortex (think Strike Eagle), or Athlon (Ares or Cronus), and others that are better from a functional perspective however. Thanks for watching my friend!

    I plan on getting a SP10 (in .308) soon and was wondering if there's anything I need to be careful of to preserve it's accuracy. Also, when breaking a new barrel, is it necessary to use match ammo? Would, say, M80 Ball work? I'm new to precision shooting (not shooting in general, I plan on treating this SP10 a lot nicer than any of my AR's) and would appreciate any info..

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 5 дней назад

      Hi EpsilonNought! I would use a middle of the road ammo for break-in. During break-in, you're really looking for the barrel to "settle in" to a consistent velocity node, which will most likely climb to that node after x number of rounds (some of my rifles are broken in after 100 rounds, others it may take upwards of 200). Now, there is nothing that states that all you can do during that break-in is send rounds downrange, in fact, I've shot matches with a brand new barrel on the rifle and did just fine, as long as I understood when the barrel sped up...That's the key. But, back to your question, if you want to break in the barrel using ball ammo, I don't see and issue as long as you set accuracy expectations. Get to the range, practice your positions (see my videos on PRS stage practice) on some stages with the expectation that you're breaking in the barrel and accuracy may not be there using ball ammo. Once the barrel is broken in, I'd definitely move to a more accurate round. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!

    Can you shoot a gas gun in any of these divisions? Buy a production gas gun and shoot in the production division say with .308 that way you can technically shoot any division ... Production, tac, gas gun, open

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 7 дней назад

      Hi Rook! According to the PRS rules: "2.4 Gas Gun Division 2.4.1 Gas Gun Division rifles may consist of large or small frame semi-auto precision rifles without restrictions. Gas guns division rifles will not exceed a caliber of .30 or a velocity of 3,200 fps." So a gas gun is a gas gun, no matter if it's a .223 or a .308, and so could not "span" divisions. Rules are at: prs-website-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/public/prs_rules.pdf So, I shoot the Seekins SP10, which could be considered a "production" rifle, but from a divisional standpoint, it's just a gas gun. You could trick out the SP10 with a new barrel, etc... but it would still just be in the gas gun division. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching my friend!

    Be careful with that abrasive. You can polish the bore and with cause way faster copper fouling. I wrecked a barrel once. The bore should always look dull not shiny. Just my experience any way. Jim see once told me the bore should be like a piston sleeve. Shiny has more grip on the copper jacket compared to a rough barrel. Kinda like cross hatching if you will.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 7 дней назад

      Hi LeftEdge! Good advice and thanks. This video was a pretty extreme example of cleaning, and I should probably have stated that at the end. I take it to the "shiny" level about every 1k rounds and then foul it up to that dull level before a match. Thanks for watching my friend!

I had great luck with TT until one day at the range practicing it went out on me, so I switched to BnA on my bolt guns. I like the BnA's because I can take them apart and clean them.

    I use a 1 or 2 sizes bigger brush, and I will also put Patches on them and I don't use jags anymore. That extra size really helps a lot with cleaning and especially the carbon ring And sometimes thin gauze, so it holds the thorroclean better against the barrel.

    Love the video! I’ve been using thorroclean for about a year now and I’m pretty happy with it so far (came from boretech and iosso). Definitely a lot faster with a better clean. I usually do 2 cycles of the thorroclean system and I get a mirror finish (every 150-200rds 6.5cm and 6gt). For the carbon ring, I use a patch soaked in boretech C4 and leave it in the ring area for 10-15 mins then twist the rod/patch in the carbon ring area for like 10-20 seconds and it gets rid of most if not all the carbon ring.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 8 дней назад

      Hi Robby! Yeah, I think I'll stick with the C4 for the carbon ring, but do like the paste of the ThorroClean system. The soaking of the ring is where a bore mop really shines. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching my friend!

    Just how exactly do you connect the drill to the cleaning rod? Did you modify the cleaning rod handle? I also use iosso brushes and think your drill method is something I would like to try but not destroy my Bore Tech cleaning rod. Thanks

      @The4GunGuy 8 дней назад

      Hi Sooner! The rod I use has a hole in the shaft that the handle rotates around, so the 1/4" hex key fits right into it. And since it's a nylon brush, it is never going to hurt that barrel. Thanks for watching my friend!

    • @tonypipTexas
      @tonypipTexas 13 дней назад

      Hi Philip! I don't use JB Bore Compound/Paste or Kroil, but I know some guys who do use them both religiously to take the barrel down to "bare metal". Some guys clean that way every cleaning, but I tend to agree with the "let it be a little fouled" camp so I don't have to waste rounds (and barrel life) getting it back to where it shoots the best. As I said in the video though, I don't think there is any real "right" way, just what works for you. In the end, we're replacing these barrels after ~3k - 4k rounds, so how bad can you really mess them up in that short period of time, unless you really tried of course! Thanks for watching my friend!

      Hi BimmerDude! I've shot the SP10 at a couple matches and really enjoy it, so it's all good. Thanks for watching another one my friend and you'll have a blast with that SP10!

      Hi Jacob! Glad you're getting into the sport and my video helped a bit. I recommend take what you have, get into a match, shoot it (go SLOW, don't worry about timing out), look at other options for PRS and maybe after a few matches, you'll see what you can do with the Grayboe to make it "PRS friendlier", or something else. I'm assuming you're action is mounted in a Terrain stock? Can you add an ARCA rail to that? If so, and you stick with the Terrain, that's the first upgrade I'd make so you can attach many accessories as needed. Thanks for watching my friend and good luck in your first match!

    • @Jake_Calde
      @Jake_Calde 17 дней назад

      @The4GunGuy definitely going to take it slow, not going to think about winning a match anytime soon lol. I was a designated marksman while overseas so longer range shots under pressure don't bother me much. It's a Grayboe Phoenix 2 with m-lok slots on the bottom so I can mount an ARCA rail to it, I believe. After watching your 5 Basics video, I'm just worried about making my rifle weigh more. Even with the suppressor I'm running, I don't think it's enough and it's off balance. But I'll go to a different chassis eventually if I get more into competition. Thanks for all your videos again!

    When I first started out, did the die setup by the instructions. I knew about the paper clip trick and used it, discovered separation grooves after 3rd load,.Then I learned about how to properly setup a die, not sure if the Stoney Point tool was even avail then, 45 yrs ago. Used a cutdown case to fit the shoulder datum as a measuring tool, no more issues with that ring, unless I acquired a really short batch of brass to start with, and it could happen again with hotter loads in that brass, probably just because of that initial stretch. Neck sizing works too, but, not for comps, or hunting, and still has to be FLS'd every few rds anyway. The only way to avoid it in the long run, is by not ever sizing the cases, in which you can get a couple of hundred shots out of them, before the body hardens up, only way to do that, is with breech seating the bullet, can't do that with jacketed bullets..

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 22 дня назад

      Hi Empty! Many people are moving to the 6mm Creedmoor (CM) cartridge, which can be found in off the shelf ammo now for around $1.35/rd (look at ammoseek.com). The 6mm CM is still more recoil than say a 6mm Dasher or BRA (like I shoot), but people are loving it. I did a search on ammoseek and the only one for off the shelf that is readily available is the 6mm CM, so I'd go with that and not look back. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend! Great videos! I really liked the video doping the wind. After you find the powder node and the seating depth, do you do a primer seating test?

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 24 дня назад

      Hi Palmer! You can do a primer seating depth, but my take on that is stick with a depth (0.002" - 0.004" let's say) and just use it. If you change too many variables, you may end up with the other variables getting "out of whack" so to speak, and then, you're just chasing your tail. Again, I'm speaking from a PRS shooting perspective, but even with F-Class, there are many videos about those guys not necessarily chasing the primer seating depth. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!

    Okay, you and Joel Wise of Precision Rifle Network have convinced me not to buy a CKYE-POD. I have been looking at one for a long time, but could not get passed the price. Now between this video and Joel's video, I will rule out getting one, at least for now. I am not doing any shooting where all the features of the CKYE-POD are needed and would justify the expense. I have an Atlas BT10 and an Accu-Tac S5. Both in my opinion are okay. I have found the Accu-Tac S5, to be a little too long when shooting from a bench. I have purchased an MDT GRND POD bipod that I really like. It was only $215.00. Is extremely easy to deploy the legs. It is light, sturdy and has cant. It is my new favorite bipod. I really appreciate you making this video. It was really informative and helpful.

    Good video, installed a pair of these on my 2020 STX, instruction are real basic but you should be able to figure them out. I had to reverse the tie down hooks at the very back of my bed because the box would not swing flat against the side of the bed, no big deal just 2 bolts. Overall very satisfied with finish and value for money compared to other brands.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 25 дней назад

      Hi RC! Yes, that might be your issue. Per the manual, you want the Garmin to pick up the bullet path at least 20 yds from the muzzle. Try angling more parallel to the barrel path and you should see better results. Thanks for watching my friend!

    Is there a way I can download that spreadsheet? I want to get into reloading and I’m looking at the Area419 press and also SAC The seating die and all SAC dies, do you really think they worth it? I rather cry once and I prefer to have the best of the bes. Thank you

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 26 дней назад

      Hi GA! IF, you're going to eventually shoot something like F-Class, then I'd say go with the 419 press and SAC dies, if you're focusing on PRS, then I WOULD NOT spend the money and go with the Forster Co-AX, the Whidden sizing die, and the LE Wilson bullet seater with the press. NOW, if you're going to hunt as well and need to load various cartridges quickly, then you may want to look at a turret press, which will make things move faster, but not sure if the accuracy would be there...MANY people will disagree with that last statement, and I have NO proof of it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching my friend!

    “Velocity nodes” are wishful thinking on the part of those who are uninformed & mistakenly use small sample sizes to make decisions important decisions.

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 27 дней назад

      Hi Jeff! I understand what you're saying, but we have to start somewhere and testing something, even if they are smaller sample sizes. I agree that a larger sample size would give us a much better understanding of the numbers, and my MBA Statistics professor would have laughed at using this sample size, but the reality is that we are trying to get some data while not shooting out our barrel getting it. This method has worked well for me through the 15 barrels I've shot in PRS, and even though not perfect, helps me to understand those things that I can control to reach targets at distance. Thanks for watching my friend!

    • @The4GunGuy
      @The4GunGuy 27 дней назад

      Hi Fiegel21! Great question. My reamer states that the neck should be "straight" back to the shoulder with the same diameter the entire way. The reality is that at about .1" off the shoulder, the neck does begin to flare, so the bullet/neck tension is pretty consistent down say 95% of the neck. Hope this answers your question and thanks for watching my friend!
